Match report The 2nd XI started life in Everards Division Three with an excellent all round performance against Syston Town. After losing the toss and being asked to bat Kegworth posted an impressive 237 for 5 wickets from the allotted 45 overs. Veteran Glyn Isaac was in fine form scoring 91 and a late assault from Bill White (44 not out) and Paras Sood (31) saw the home side post a competitive total on a very good pitch. In reply Syston were reduced to 77 for 5 as 17 year old Gareth Isaac (2 for 46), captain Carl Sutton (2 for 53) and the evergreen Mark Wade (1 for 34) all bowled excellent first spells. Kegworth continued to attack throughout the visitors innings, but unfortunately the bowlers ran out of steam as early season stiffness kicked in. Two late wickets from Glyn Isaac (2 for 4) saw Syston finish on 171 for 8 wickets securing 19 valuable points for the home side. Kegworth will travel to local rivals Loughborough Greenfields next Saturday buoyed by their opening day performance.
