Kegworth Town Cricket Club Experimental (Under 12's) v Crown Hills on Sun 21 Jun 2009 at 10.00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won By 3 runs
Match report
Sundays game was a tremendous test for the teams character as Crown Hills were a very good team who didn't bowl fast but bowled very straight and accurate. They were quick in the field and they didn't give much away in wides etc.
Kegworth won the toss and Seb chose to bat, it was a combined captaincy of Seb and George
Seb and Owen opened the batting and straight away we realised that this was not going to be easy as Crown Hills bowled very well. Saying that Seb and Owen waited for the odd bad ball and put it away for 4 to finish their 4 overs with 215 on the board.
Tim and Tyler went in next and struggled against some of the best bowling I have seen this year. Timmy hit some good shots and Tyler chipped in with a few singles but we lost 4 wickets in the process.
Mitch and Tom went in next with a new game plan of pushing as many singles as possible as the Crown Hill fielders were out on the boundry. Great credit to these 2 as they pushed the score on with some great 4's from Mitch for the loss of only 1 wicket.
George and Josh went in with the same instructions to push and run and both of them turned singles in to 2's with some great running between the stumps. Josh and George had a great understanding and hit the 250 target we were hoping for.
Kegworth went in to bowl with a spring in their step as we told them if the bowled tight and fielded well, they could win the game.
Seb and Owen opened the bowling and Seb (with the whole team giving him encourgement) bowled like a demon. It was a typical Seb over as he took 1 wicket but was a bit too fast at times, but he showed Crown we meant business. George put Owen in next and he bowled on the wicket time after time to keep the score low. Seb took his next over and as usual bowled very tight to leave Crown on 210 after 3. Owen took his second over and took a great C & B to leave it at 207 for 2.
With Crown Hills starting to wobble, George and Timmy took over and George took a wicket in his first over and Timmy bowled perfect line and length to keep the score right down. George bowled his second over for 3 and then Timmy ripped the stumps out twice to leave Crown in trouble on 208 for 5 after 8
The 2 captains then decided to try and win the game by bringing Mitch on and he bowled a well disciplined over of only 5 runs, and was backed up with a maiden from Josh. Mitch returned and bowled another good over, with Josh just missing out on a whicket maiden from his second over, after good work from wicket keeper Tom to take another Crown wicket.
The game was on a knife edge with 4 overs to go and Crown Hills requring 25 to win. Tyler started his first over and bowled really well but the Crown Hills captain had other ideas as he set about the Kegworth bowling and took 8 off the first over. Timmy came in and bowled the first extra over and took another wicket to keep the score at 226 -7. Tyler returned and bowled good line and length again but Crown were equal to it and took 17 off the over. Special mention to Tyler who bowled well even though his figures didnt reflect it and he never let his head drop. Crown only required 8 from the final over and George voluntered to take it on. George bowled great line and length and with the aid of a run out,Kegworth manged to win by 3 runs.
Both teams left the field to applause ringing in their ears for a fantastic game.
A special mention to Josh who batted and bowled very well and to Man of teh Match George Marrable for his all round performance and bowling th ecrucial last over.
