Kegworth Town Cricket Club Experimental (Under 12's) v Bardon Hill on Sun 31 May 2009 at 10.00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 8 runs

Match report Another fantastic team performance to beat the best team we have played this season.

Kegworth won the toss and decided to bat on a very hot day. Sam O and George M got us off to a solid start, putting the odd bad ball away including 3 sweet 4s from the pair. Josh and Sam W came in on 232 for 0 and took the score on to 258 for 0, with Sam hitting 3 boundaries including an exquisite straight drive. Seb and George J took the score on to 266 for 1 both scoring boundaries, but George was bowled by a toe crushing yorker. Tyler and Owen faced some very hostile bowling with Tyler being bowled once, and Owen staunchly defending 15 dot balls and adding 6 runs. Bardon bowled incredibly well, and it was only strong technique, very brave defence, and putting the bad ball away that took us to 270.

When Bardon batted they lost regular wickets which always kept them behind the run rate. Everyone bowled well, and the fielding was excellent, excepting the odd ball that got through fielders to the boundary. Seb got the ball rolling with a very hostile spell, taking a wicket with his last ball. So after 4 overs, Sam O and Seb had restricted Bardon to 212 for 1.

George M and Owen then bowled 4 very tight overs, with George taking 2 wickets, 1 bowled and 1 a great catch by Sam W.Owen only went for 5 singles in his two overs. The batsmen could not deal with his left arm over bowling that tied them up in knots. At the end of these 4 overs their score was 216 for 3.

Sam W and Tyler bowled 4 really tight overs with Bardon moving on to 237 for 4, including a fierce delivery from Tyler that clattered the stumps.

The final 4 overs were bowled by Josh, George M and Sam O. against Bardon's captain and best batsman who nearly won the match for them scoring 30, but 2 vital wickets made the difference between the 2 teams. George took his third wicket, and some great work from George J behind the stumps, and Sam O at the bowlers end to run out the Bardon no 8 off the first ball of the last over.

An all round great team performance with George Marrable thoroughly deserving his Man of the Match award. Special mention is due for Josh Faulks playing well all round in his first U12 match, and also George Jones keeping wicket and letting almost nothing past him. The whole bowling performance was fantastic with only 2 wides and 2 no balls in the Bardon innings.
