Beeston & Toton Sycamore v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Newark Alliance XI on Sun 12 Jul 2009 at 2pm
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 130 runs

Match report After arriving at The Manor Farm ground on time and via the most direct, quickest and easiest route the team quickly get changed and attacked the warm up. Yes! A warm up for the 3rd team! Get used to it chaps, every week!

Soft and dam wicket with lots of grass, made Fowkes special look like a Indian dust bowl. Losing the toss we were asked to bat.

Batting order very strong this week, with the exception of number 9 everyone can get runs!

Debutant Ben Collington batted at 3 behind Vice captain Woolley and the ever reliable Jon Cantrill.

A great team batting effort got us well past 250 with wickets to spare. Highlights of the inning; Luke Woolley (67), Jon Cantrill (40) and Adam Meads (41). Big hitting and useful runs also provided by Collington and Purdew.

After 40 overs KTCC were in the very strong position of 258 for 8, leaving BATS to chase down at almost 6.5 runs per over!

Isaac and Harding provided a good start keeping BATS below 5 runs an over and picking up a wicket each.

Chirs Day, making his return to Kegworth Town bowled well and took 3 for 12 of 4 overs! A great return to the game.

Captain Weedon was unlucky not to get 5 for due to dropped catches but ended up with a steady 3 for 22 of 5.1.

BATS ended up all out for 128 a spirited performance by a good natured team! We look forward to the return game at the home of cricket.

Areas of improvement / Captain message:
BASICS – This is one thing every player in the team should be doing! Passing the ball round the field, walking in, backing up!

EXTRAS – Wides especially. We seem to be regularly giving the opposition 30 extras a game, not to mention the runs they get of the extra balls. I am now creating a report of each bowler and the extras they bowl. Let’s try and reduce the extras column.

We are at home for the next 4 weeks – please make sure everyone know the meet time and arrives on time. We as a team need to insure all tasks are complete before, during and after the game. EVERYONE needs to do their bit.

Warm ups will be done before every game – Please double check and make sure you understand the selection policy regards attendance, effort and attitude to warm ups, training and games. NO player is exempt from this.

Man Of The Match: Ben Collington – 24 with the bat, and great commitment in the field!

T of the Day: Jet Harding – Requesting to bowl as his girlfriend turned up and he wanted to “Impress”
