Rainbow v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Newark Alliance XI on Sun 24 May 2009 at 2pm
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 73 runs
Match report
Apologies for the late match report.
A very hot day at a ground that has seen better days. The wicket and outfield, as far as park cricket go were good, and played very well.
Unfortunately the pavilion was locked, and stayed locked throughout the whole game.
The high spirited KTCC 3RD XI setup camp on the boundary line and Weedon won the toss... Batting first on a grassy hard wicket.
JC and J. Skilbeck started the innings brilliantly and they were backed up by good 30’s from Hardy and Smithdogg.
Weedon and Isaac made quick fire runs, after a rubbish call/running effort by Weedon ran out the impressive French International.
Debutant William “Better batsman than Mark” Wade made 2 not out in partnership of 17 with Weedon.
Final score, an impressive 250 for 6!
Tea – As there was no facilities available, tea was a picnic..... nice.
Bowling was sporadic from all with the exception of D. Day who bowled a great line and length and got 3 for 26, including their danger man!
Wade, Hardy, Amor and Skilbeck chipped in with great bowling at the end a combined end figues were 7.3 overs, 4 maidens, 15 for 2! A great effort.
Rainbow were bowled out for 177.
3rd XI back to wining ways.
Man of The Match: Jon Cantrill – Opening the batting and making 79 (Highest 3rd score by a 3rd team player this season.
(Nominees; L.Weedon - Captaincy, Dan Day - Bowling, J. Skilbeck - Batting)
T**T of the Match: J Harding – Bad week with the ball and a dropped catch of the captains bowling.
(Nominees; L. Weedon – runout, G. Isaac – Mardy!)
