Thrumpton v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Newark Alliance XI on Sun 20 Jul 2008 at 2pm
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 3 runs
Match report
Sunshine and a reasonably strong westerly wind greeted us as we arrived, albeit a little early.
I won the toss and decided to bowl, the subconscious thought of controlling the game easier and also building up an appetite for the teas that I'd heard so many good things about.
C.Day and J.Harding opened the bowling with a good opening 12 overs between them, tight bowling and a wicket each.
Dropped catches and extras allowed Thrumpton to move to a final score of 172 for 6, not before a tight last 2 overs by H. Amor, who was let down by 2! dropped catches.
Tea - Superb! Hot Plate/Food Heat Lamps are the future!
Opened the batting with L. Woolley and S.Glover, all good, until the 1st team skipper decided to leave a straight one.... Doh!
L. Woolley and G. Ward then batted very well moving the score on, which, at the time, seemed very slow. The score book shows a different light after 24 hours.
Luke's fine 60 and Gabe's 40 ended in quick succession, leaving Dougie and I to push on to victory.... Valliant attempt, but unfortunately failed by 3 runs.
A game that seemed so far away at the time, ended up being very close! (Never has there been such a better example of why acurate scoring is needed!)
Good effort all round really. Well Done!
Too many extras, again!
