Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost By Six Wickets (With over 4 overs remaining)

Match report Kegworth lost their penultimate academy fixture at home to Long Whatton.

Town batted first and started well losing their first wicket midway through the 4th for 22. However the innings stalled following useful spells from Pick and Chisholm and at the halfway point Town were 32-4.

Although the scoring rate recovered in the second half of the innings (particularly a 31 run 6th wicket stand from Berridge and O’Neill) the total posted of 92-8 always looked at least 20 runs short.

Despite a Keeble six in the first over, Town held their own in the early stages, with Long Whatton 26-2 after 6 overs. However the next two overs yielded 23 runs including a further Keeble maximum. Keeble eventually departed for 30 but J Dunkin and J Basford were able to steer Long Whatton comfortably home for the loss of only 4 wickets and with over 4 overs remaining.
