Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost 69 runs
Match report
Kegworth 13B's last league fixture saw Kegworth field first a player down. The opening bowlers of Bradley Frost and Henry Jones started well with the opppositon only getting 3 runs off Bradleys first over and Henry taking a wicket in his first over. Newtown Linford then rallied and started clocking up the boundaries and racking up a good score. It wasnt until the 10 over until Kegworth managed to take their 2nd wicket with Henry Jones catching the ball from Laurie field's bowling. Although by the end Newtown had clocked up an impressive innings Kegworths bowling finished strongly with Jay Werb taking a wicket in the 19th over for 4 runs and Newtown only getting 1 run in the 20th from Henry's Bowling.
Kegworths Batting started with a determination to try to chase down a hefty score with Louis Blundell hitting a 4 from his second ball. But with Bradley getting out in the second over and then Laurie Field and Henry Jones following soon after it looked unlikely. Louis did manage to get 9 runs from Newtowns opening bowlers but it wasnt until Matthew kingsbury and Jack Evans managed to form a partnership that kegworths score started to grow. Matthew only scored 3 but did run well to support Jack who scored 17 before getting out.
Kegworth ended with 73 runs but should be proud of a good performance from a very young team who played with a player down.
Man of the match was Jack Evans for his impressive batting.
