Mountsorrel v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 13's on Sun 10 Jun 2012 at 10:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won By 70 runs

Match report Another fabulous performance from the U13As.

Josh was captain today in the absence of Sam Wildgust. We won the toss and decided to bat.

It was clear very early on in our innings that the ball was going to keep low and that it would be a low scoring match. Guy Lorraine was caught and bowled quite early, and George Jones followed quite quickly, run out for 2. Ben was bowled for 3, but our innings was then rebuilt by Josh and Mitch, who scored 17 and 28 not out respectively. A flurry of wickets saw Josh, George B-S and Tom follow in quick succession, but a sensible 6 and 7 not out from Elliot and Will got us to a very respectable 92 for 6 off our 20 overs.

At the change of innings we said that the game wasn't won, though we had set a challenging score. We needed to bowl and field well, to restrict Mountsorrel and put them under pressure, and that we most certainly did.

Mitch and Tom opened the bowling, and after the first two overs we had them 3 for 2. Mitch bowled their number 2 off the 3rd ball of the match with a full straight ball, and Tom had thier number 3 caught behind smartly by George for 0 off his first ball. So after 6 overs from Mitch and Tom, whilst no more wickets had falled, Mountsorrel were 9 for 2 and falling rapidly behind the run rate.

This brought Myles, Anthony and Ben into the attack, and in an incredible 8 overs, these three spinners took 5 wickets for 10 runs and bowled 4 maidens. They all three deserve immense credit for bowling with loop and getting huge amounts of turn and bounce out of a wet wicket. With three stumpings and a catch though, They certainly have George Jones to thank for their amazing figures. Added to the catch taken earlier, this left George with his own special 5 for, 3 stumpings and 2 catches. All that was left was for Will to take a catch off his own bowling, taking the catch from under Elliot's nose!

Another strong performance from the whole team, with everyone making a contribution with bat and ball. George Jones deserves special mention, as do Myles, Ant and Ben, along with Josh for superb captaincy and an eyecatching 17. Man of the match was difficult with such a great perfomance from all these lads, but Mitch stood out just a little bit more, with 28 not out and figures of 3-1-3-1.
