Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 13's v Austrey on Sun 27 May 2012 at 10:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won By 9 wickets
Match report
Another tremendous team performance for the U13As.
We won the toss and put Austrey into bat.
Some very tight bowling and fielding restricted Austrey to 91 all out off the 4th ball of the 20th over. They had 4 batsmen who looked like they were going to score 25 and retire, but every time we managed to get them out.
There were a couple of great run outs at either end of the innings from Myles and Will, along with fearsome bowling from Mitch and Josh, tight bowling from Tom and Sam, and the usual bamboozling from Myles and Ant. Josh, with 3 for 13, and Tom with 3 for 4 were the pick of our bowlers, doing well to keep Austrey to under a run a ball and setting our innings up for a difficult, but achievable reply.
When we batted, Sam and George Jones opened and were asked to try and get us to 30 off 5 or 6 overs to set up the middle order to get us to our total. The plan didn't work, the plan excelled!! These two put on 58 in 9 overs for the first wicket before Sam was run out on 24 trying to scamper the single that would get him his 25. Another captain's innings from Sam, with 24 off 29 balls, setting the victory up perfectly. This brought George Bakewell-Smith to the wicket, who scored a steady 4 from 12 balls. At the other end, George Jones retired on 27 from 27 balls, continuing his fabulous start to the season. This brought Josh Faulks to the wicket, who smashed 17 off 6 balls and the game was over before we could blink.
A satisfying yet ultimately comfortable victory by 9 wickets with 6.5 overs to go.
A great all round performance, with Josh and George Jones sharing man of the match.
