Match report Another good win for the boys.

Aided by Grace Dieu (at one point extras outscored the bat 13 to 2) a decent start was made, with the first wicket falling for 39 in the 5th over.

Runs continued to flow and when Tom went for 21 in the 15th Town were 97 for 4.
An explosive partnership of 49 in less than 5 overs followed, with the excellent Alex Sleight hitting 46 in 31 balls (at almost 5 times the strike rate of his previous two innings) supported strongly by Alex Davies (50% of his runs this year have come in sixes).

Alex eventually departed in the final over, with a 50 in sight. I dearly hope to avoid regrets in later life he gets that 50 one day, because otherwise a therapist may well hear the story of how he was bowled by a girl when on 46.

In reply Grace Dieu made a decent start and scored at over 7 an over in the first 4. At the half way stage they were in touch at 56 for 2 but after that wickets were lost too regularly, particularly to the swing bowling of Harry White (3-7), for a realistic challenge to be mounted and the Town eventually ran in winners by 52 runs.

PS Statisticians (& I fear I may be the only sad anorak) may wish to note that after a conversation with Wade junior, I’ve decided to remove wides from balls faced).

PPS No offence to either Emily (a good bowler over the years) or Grace Dieu (an exceptionally friendly club) intended.
