Shepshed Town v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 15's B on Wed 10 Aug 2011 at 18:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won By 36 runs

Match report It was a real bonus that we got thsi game played with so much rain around.

We lost the toss and were put into bat, which was a huge help to us as Shepshed ended up batting in the dark at the end of their innings!

We raced to 80 off the first 10 overs thanks to a great start from Nic, Guy and Tim who scored 31, 12 and 35 respectively. Nic notched up his highest score of the season, and Guy scored 12 off 12 balls in his first ever innings at U15. Sam O'Neill and Tim kept the scoreboard ticking before a flurry of wickets slowed the rate down with Sam O (16), Tom (0) and Sam Wildgust (1) all out in quick succession. This left Tim and Harry to take us on to a very respectable 138 for 7 at the end, Tim scoring 35 and Harry 10 not out.

So, a great batting performance helped by the acceleration at the start.

When Shepshed batted we struggled to take wickets, but some very full and straight bowling from Tim and Lewis meant that Shepshed only had 15 runs on the board after 6 overs, and were never able to catch up with the rate. Tim trapped the dangerous Blackshore LBW for 11, before Sam Wildgust took over towards the end of the innings to take a great caught and bowled and run out their number 3.

Fielding in the black conditions became almost impossible, but credit to Kegworth who protected the boundaries and kept Shepshed under pressure without taking regular wickets, to see us home by 36 runs.

Man of the Match was Tim for his innings of 35 and figures of 4 overs 1 maiden 1 wicket for 10 runs.

Our game at Ibstock next week is off, so this was our last game. To have won 8 and lost only 3 in the league is a fantastic achievement by all involved in the team, and the lads deserve a huge pat on the back. It has been a real team effort all season, which bodes well for next year.

Special mention to all the younger players who have filled in during the season, and also to Seb for scoring our only 50, Tim for consistently scoring runs, George for his big innings and great bowling, Jacob for becoming a great close in fielder, Sam O'Neill for playing a great captains role all year, Noddy for coming into the team and adding to the great spirit before his injury, Owen and Tyler for raising their games this summer, and Nic for saving his best innings until last.
