Loughborough Carillon Old Boys v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 15's B on Wed 06 Jul 2011 at 18:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report A very tight game, interrupted by the weather that we just managed to win in the last over.A huge boundary and wet outfield made scoring boundaries very difficult and only 3 were hit in the whole game.

Winning the toss,we put Old Boys into bat, and they were soon off for rain, when a downpour after 6 overs lasted for 1 minutes,. This caused us to shorten the game to 16 overs a side, which was clearly in our favour.

Opening the bowling for us were Tyler Day and Josh Faulks. With his new run up and follow through Tyler was moving the ball away from the batsmen, and after his 3 overs had figures of 2 for 13. Josh was very unlucky not to take wickets and ended his spell of 3 overs with 0 for 12, with 3 runs coming from poor fielding by Kegworth.

Mitch and Sam bowled a similar tight spell each, taking 1 for 14 and 0 for 15 respectively. Mitch's wicket was caught behind by Nic and then Tim ran out Old Boys number 4 with an incredible direct hit from extra cover.

The last 4 overs were bowled by George and Owen, with Mitch holding a great catch to dismiss the Old Boys opener on 35. Owen bowled a superb 1st over for just 4 runs, but his final over yielded 11 with a dropped caught and bowled chance, and 2 no balls. This took Old Boys to a competitive 76 for 4 off their 16 overs. Apart from a few misfields, and 18 in extras, we bowled and fielded very well on a dark, wet night when the ball cannot have been easy to pick up or bowl with.

When we batted we got off to a steady start with Tim and George scoring 18 off 2 overs. At the end of the 2nd over George was unfortunate to get a shocking decision, being caught at square leg off a no ball, and given out for 8. Jacob was soon out for 2 with teh score on 36 off 6 overs but played a good supporting innings to Tim who was batting very sensibly at the other end.

The early acceleration in our innings was to prove vital as we soon lost Tim (16), Nic (2) and Josh (2) to take the score to 55 for 5 off 10. Sam and Mitch then built a match winning partnership of 18. 14 runs came from overs 14 and 15 to take the scores level at the end of the 15th over, before one of Old Boys younger bowlers bowled a wide to give us victory by 4 wickets. At the end Sam was 19 not out and George Jones 0 not out

A tough match, where we just about got it right. MOTM was Sam for his match winning innings and captaincy.
