Match report Am absorbing match where once again, one batsman put us to the sword and created a match winning performance for our opposition.

We won the toss and elected to bat. The story of our innings was the loss of regular wickets, though our run rate was pretty consistent at around 5 an over.

Tim went early playing back to a straight one and was rapped on the pads. Sam O'Neill came in at number 3 and after a couple of sweet drives was bowled for 4.Jacob fell in a similar way for 1 off 16 balls, and Nic followed quickly for 3, bowled. Seb struggled to time the ball but scored a rapid 11 and the star of the innings, George Marrable went for 29 hitting a catch straight down Long On's throat. Sam Wildgust and Harry then added 26 for the 7th wicket to get us to a very competitive score. Harry was run out attempting a 3rd run leaving Noddy to come in for a couple of balls.

When we fielded we were much sharper than our first match, and probably saved a good 15 runs with some sharp stops and some great throwing. On another day our efforts would have yielded at least 1 run out, and maybe a catch or two! As this was a cup match and we had lost our first match, everyone got a bowl. The highlights were another wicket for Seb, a great catch from George, Lewis getting his first U15 wicket and Tim putting his dismissal behind him and bowling superbly to slow them down at the end. The match was finally won by Ibstock off the 4th ball of the 18th over. Another 20 runs would probably have seen us have enough.

So, one Ibstock player scored 46 and they won the game. I feel that we have 5 or 6 batsmen capable of scoring a 50, and when this happens I am sure that we will post a stiff target and cause someone problems!

Man of the match was shared by George and Noddy. George for his 29, 1 wicket and a catch, Noddy for his superb keeping, letting nothing through and marshalling the field well. Special mention to Sam for excellent captaincy, to Harry and Sam W for tehir innings, which showed great maturity. Finally well done to Arjun, who has made himself Square Leg for life with some great fielding. With a lot of lads playing their first U15 match we performed very well, and they should all be proud of their efforts!
