Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 15's B v Austrey & Newton Regis on Wed 04 May 2011 at 18:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost By 6 wickets
Match report
A creditable start to the season against an Austrey team who won the game thanks to the efforts of one batsman who scored 51 in 25 balls to take the game away from us after a bright start when we had them 28 for in the 5th over.
We will probably see this a lot this season, as we play aginst teams with oldr players who are playing thir second season at U15s. To the lads credit, they battled right to the end.
We lost the toss and were put in, and after losing Nic early George and Tim put on a very good partnership for the second wicket to take us to 51 for 2 in the 11th over. a rapid 16 off 9 balls from Seb and 25 from Tim, with George anchoring the innings and scoring 14 saw us to 97 for 6 with a useful 6 each from Harry and Sam at the end.
When we bowled we soon had them in trouble at 28 for 2, but a couple of dropped catches, missed run outs and some poor fielding probably gave them 2 or 3 lives and 15-20 runs that slowly saw the game ebb away from us. Well done to Seb and Owen who both picked up 2 wickets a piece with some very hostile and accurate bowling respectively.
All together, a good start to the season, and with more to come in the weeks ahead the season promises to be enjoyable. A steep learning curve awaits the team, and as long as they keep battling away their rewards will come as individuals and a team
