Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 13's v Newtown Linford on Sun 10 Jul 2011 at 10:00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won By 6 wickets

Match report A comfortable victory against a young Newtown Linford side who we have already beaten well this season.

We lost the toss and fielded.

Regular wickets, great fielding and catching, and some very accurate bowling meant that we bowled them out for 57 in the 13th over.

Tom Henson bowled with great accuracy again to take his 2 wickets, both bowled. Josh was very hostile, bowling 3 overs taking 1 for 5, with Tim taking a great slip catch for his wicket.

So after the first 6 overs the visitors were 17 for 3. Will and Lewis kept the pressure up in their 2 overs a piece to have them 32 for 4 after 10 overs. Will bowled their number 5 with a delivery that looked a wicket from the minute it left his hand!

Harry and Max, our 2 U11 players making their debuts for the 13As then bowled a fantastic 2 overs each. Harry took a wicket with his 4th ball to dismiss their no. 4 who was threatening to get 25 and retire, but all credit to Alex Davies who took the catch of the season at mid on, diving forward to take it millimetres off the ground. Harry took 1 more wicket, but Max also chipped in with a wicket, Will taking a great catch at mid on. So at 50 for 7 Lewis came back into the attack and was joined by Mitch. Lewis took 2 in 2 balls to end with 2 for 11 and Mitch finished them off, clean bowling their number 11.

When we started our reply, we lost quick wickets to be 20 for 4. Harry L was caught for 1, Alex caught for a duck, Harry G was unfortunate to be run out backing up with a direct hit seeing him out by a few mm. Tim hit a rapid 16 before top edging a ball down leg side to a short fine leg. Then Tom W and Mitch W steadied the ship to take us over the line with Tom ending 3 n.o. and Mitch 19 n.o. from 22 balls.

A comfortable win, though we made hard work of things when we batted. Another great bowling and fielding display, with special mention to Harry G and Max L for an assured and wicket taking debut.

Man of the match, for his all round performance and getting us over the line when we wobbled, was Mitch Williams
