Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 78 runs
Match report
The newly formed Under 13 B team travelled to sunny Sileby for their first game of the season. Kegworth won the toss and chose to field first, this was a chance for the bowlers to blow away the winter cobwebs. Sileby batted well with three of their team retiring after 25 runs. Joe Hampson was the first to break the partnerships when he bowled their number 2 in the 8th over. It was not until the 19th over that Tom Henson was able to take the second wicket and Sileby made an impressive 144 for 2.
Guy Lorraine and George Lacey opened the batting for Kegworth and both were bowled after scoring 1 each. Sam Tricket was the next to go with 1 after being bowled in the 5th over. George Bakewell-Smith was unlucky to be bowled for nothing in the 7th. A period of stability then followed with a partnership between George Jones and Tom Henson for serveral overs. Jones was eventually caught for 5 in the 14th over and Henson went on to retire on 26. Joe Hampson fell with a score of 2 in the 15th over followed shortly after by Ben O'Neil. With the bowler on a hat trick Myles Faulkes defended his wicket well scoring 2 not out. Will Cockerill faced 3 balls in the final over and finished not out for nought. Henry Jones did not bat.
Despite the scoreline, Kegworth fought hard and kept their heads up throughout. They did well to play the full 20 overs against some strong Sileby bowling. Man of the match was awarded to Tom Henson for a good bowl and a very good bat.
