Lambley Village v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Newark Alliance XI on Sun 19 Jun 2011 at 2pm
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets (4 Points)
Match report
After last weeks wash out at Gotham, the 3rd team travelled to Lambley with high hopes of gaining a third win of the season, With a green wicket Kegworth won the toss and had no heitation in bowling first, Will and Jet starting proceedings with Will finding his line and length straight away and Jet needing reset the radar a little but soon refound his touch and duly grabbed the first wicket to fall. Williamson replacing Wade Jnr after 4 very economical overs to grab the next 2 wickets before Wade snr chipped in with a couple. Lambleys last 5 wickets fell in quick succession with Will Wade taking 3 in an over to finish with 3-19 off 7 overs, Will Such getting a deserved wicket after a smart catch by Holmes at 2nd slip and the last wicket going to Adam Meads who having a rare bowl frightned the Lambley tailenders with pace and bounce to claim his 1st league wicket of the season.
Kegworth chasing 116 for victory started in the worst possible way with both openers back in the hutch with only 3 on the board, both Davies and Skilbeck being bowled. Then a steady 49 run partnership between Meads and Sutton doing all the hard work seeing off the Lambley opening bowlers ended when Sutton was Bowled by Burnett in his last over with Meads soon following for 26. At this point with the score on 55 for 4 it was left to Williamson and Holmes to rebuild the innimngs which they duly did before Tom was bowled by the returning Whitehead, Holmes took the game away from Lambley with a swashbuckling 43 including 8 fours and a six before a couple of late wickets left skipper Wade to stroke the winning four and secure another 4 points to the seasons tally....
