Kegworth Town Cricket Club Newark Alliance XI v Gotham Village on Sun 15 May 2011 at 2pm
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 3 wickets (4 Points)
Match report
Game 4 and finally a win, with a more experienced look to the side than the previous week, Kegworth looked for a much improved performance against local neighbours Gotham. Wade again lost the toss and Gotham elected to bat. Opening bowlers Wade Jnr and Williamson soon found there line and length and it wasn't long until Burton edged a Williamson outswinger thro to keeper Glover. Tom bowling an excellent first spell off 6 overs and extremely unlucky to only come away with 1 wicket. The introduction of Harding for Wade jnr soon saw more wickets for Kegworth and when Wade snr bowled Prettyjohn Gotham lucked to be struggling on 58 for 5, This brought together Blatherwick and Niazi who with alot of luck and some hard hitting put on an unbroken partnership off 164, Kegworth's plight not helped by a string off dropped catches especially in the slip area??...(a late night in Echo's was to blame for this!!).Gotham finishing on 222 for 5 from there 40 overs..
Kegworth's reply started badly with Davies being bowled for 0 with the score on 5, this soon became 19 for 2 when Gareth Isaac was bowled by Prettyjohn. This brought Jack Hodgson to the crease looking to break his duck off not scoring a run. 2 overs later Hodgson was adjudged LBW for 0!!!..In came Jordan Holmes to play the staring role ably assisted by Simon Glover as the pair added 118 for the 4th wicket before Glover fell stumped for a fine 56, Holmes then took it upon himself to launch his own assault on the Gotham bowlers hitting 5 sixes and 10 fours in 110 not out, well supported by George Marrable (5) Carl Sutton (7) and Will Wade (2) before Tom Williamson rounded off a great day for Him by hitting 2 fours to win the game with 3 overs to spare.
Well played lads and no more late nights Sutty?
