Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 13's v Loughborough Town A on Sun 13 Jun 2010 at 10.00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 58 runs

Match report A hastily arranged friendly due to our league opponents dropping out of the league and other potential opponents turning down our requests for a game. Thanks to Loughborough for agreeing to play us at short notice.

Loughborough Town are a very strong side, who gave us a lesson in bowling, fielding and batting. However, our approach to the game was to let the players lower down the order a chance to bat, and let one or two of our lesser used bowlers have a bowl. Loughborough's approach was to bowl their best bowlers and bat in order. With this difference in approach in mind our team should not worry about the result or the size of the defeat. Lets try and get closer when we play them in the league in a months time.

Loughborough won the toss and elected to bat. Once again we gave an opposing side far too many extras, giving away 18 in wides, 11 in No Balls and 8 in Byes.
There were a number of highlights for us in their innings. Notably very sharp run outs from Nic and Michael, a difficult catch from Alex followed by a stunning catch from George, and some excellent fielding from Owen, Tyler, Jacob, Timmy and Seb, who all made stops that saved many extra runs. Take off those extras and the team restricted Town to 4 an over. No mean achievement against a very strong batting line up. Pick of the bowlers were Seb who took 2 for 18, Owen 1 for 13 and Tim 0 for 10 against their openers. Sam, Nic and George also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

When we batted we mixed up the order to give everyone a go, and veryine got a go! Seb batted with a good mix of attack and defence for his 23 not out, his highest score of the season. The rest of our batsmen were blow away by some very strong bowling by all the Town bowlers, pick of the bunch being Berry who took 4 for 24. Town gave us 17 extras in our innings of 13.1 overs, 20 less than we gave them.

Man of the Match for his all round batting, bowling and fielding was Seb. Richly deserved, well done to him.
