Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost Lost by 8 runs

Match report Kegworth hosted Crown Hills in what was to be a very close match.
Crown Hills batted first. Mitch Mosley and Owen Hennessey were the first bowling pair. Both bowled well; Mitch bowling for George Jones's run out and Owen having a maiden over. The Crown hill lads finishing their pairing as they started on 200. George Kenning continues to improve his bowling in his pairing with Sam Wildgust. Dan Lewis-Roberts and Cameron Gold bowled next. Dan bowled one batter out and was the bowler for run outs from George J and Sam Wildgust who did a superb throw to the stumps. Sam Tricket was joined by Sam W and Dan for the last 4 overs. Sam T bowled the same Crown Hills batter out twice in the 15th over. The Crown Hills innings finished 241 for 6, an achievable goal for Kegworth.

Opening the batting for Kegworth were George Jones and Mitch Mosley. They provided the team with a very solid start; both finding the boundary and finishing with 220 on the board. George Kenning and Owen Hennessey were next in to bat and faced some very good bowling with all four overs being maidens. George K was unlucky to get lose his wicket twice despite defending it well. Dan Lewis-Roberts and Cameron Gold were the third pair in to bat. Dan was hitting the ball well finding the boundary and running well with Cameron, but was urnfortunate to get bowled twice. Cameron was unable to score on his opening game for the experimental team. Sam Trickett and Sam Wildgust finished the batting with a good partnership. As Kegworth entered the 14th over needing 14 to win it looked like they might get the win, however Sam T was bowled in the 14th taking the score down to 224. In the 15th over the boys called and ran well taking the score back up to 233 leaving 8 runs off 6 balls. A 2 from Sam W off the first ball looked like it might happen however he was then bowled from the second ball. A single from Sam T and a further 2 from Sam W meant Kegworth finished the innings on 233 for 5.

It was a well fought game. Kegworth batted and fielded well against a side that were a strong bowling team. There were notable performances from George Jones, Mitch Mosley, Sam Wildgust and Dan Lewis-Roberts and man of the match was a very close thing. This week it was awarded to Sam Trickett for 2 wickets in one over with only 7 runs off him.
