Kegworth Town Cricket Club Experimental (Under 12's) v Long Whatton on Sun 09 May 2010 at 10:00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 15 runs
Match report
Long Whatton won the toss and elected to bowl first.
George Jones and Tom Smith opened for Kegworth with some solid batting and defence of the wicket in the first 3 overs. George J was then bowled followed by a run out for Tom, leaving the score at 205. Next in were Sam Trickett and Max Lawson (an under 10's player). Sam faced first scoring 2 runs, with Max although not scoring any runs, defending his wicket well and not being fazed by his first hardball match. George Bakewell-Smith and George Kenning were the third pairing into bat. George B-S had a four and 2 singles with some solid batting. George K batted well but was bowled in the 11th over. Harry Lawson and Joe Hampson were last in for Kegworth. Harry opened with 2 fours and a single within his first over. Joe had a couple of singles before finding the boundary. Their pairing took the score from 228 to 260.
Long Whatton were always chasing a good score, this was made harder by Tom Smith taking a wicket in the second over and Harry Lawson bowling 2 and George Jones stumping one in the third over. Joe Hampson continued Kegworth's fine form and bowled 2 in the fourth over, he then had a maiden over in the sixth. George Kenning was much more confident with his bowling this week with only 2 runs scored off him and less wides. Max Lawson bowled superbly, only 2 wides and one run in his first over and maiden in his second. George Bakewell-Smith was unable to take any wickets this week. Sam Tricket bowled consistantly with no wides and only 1 no ball. Joe and Harry took one more over each and it was Harry that bowled the last ball of the innings for George J to make it a run out.
Kegworth won by 15 runs. This was a fantastic win by the team, who played well together, supporting and calling to each other. There were several contenders for the man of the match however Joe Hampson got the honour this week for an all round outstanding performance.
