Crown Hills v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Experimental (Under 12's) on Sun 02 May 2010 at 10:00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 13 runs

Match report Kegworth travelled to Crown Hills in the heart of Leicester on what felt like a cold winter's morning! Crown Hills won the toss and elected to field first.

Harry Lawson and Mitchell Moseley opened with some solid batting. Both were unfortunate to be bowled however they kept the score in positive figures. George Jones and George Bakewell-Smith were the second pair in. Both not out and scoring 2 runs each. George Kenning and Owen Hennessey were the third pair in to bat against 2 good Crown Hill bowlers. George unfortunatley was bowled in the 11th over and was unable to score any runs today. Owen was the only Kegworth player to reach the boundary of a very unkempt pitch, scoring 5 runs overall. Last in to bat were Mitchell Williams and Sam Trickett, Mitch scored 6 runs and was not out. Sam was not so lucky , scoring 1 run but being bowled in the 13th over and caught by the wicket keeper in the 15th. Kegworth finished their innings on 223 for 5.

Harry Lawson opened with the first of his three overs, with some very solid bowling with only 1 wide. George Jones took advantage of a Crown Hills player stumbling to remove the bail ensuring a run out in the third over. Mitchell Mosley bowled a player out in the fourth over and again was solid in his bowling, with only 2 wides. Mitchell Williams and George Bakewell-Smith were the next pair in to bowl. The third wicket fell with George Jones eager to take full advantage when the Crown Hills player missed Mitchell Williams bowl but then wandered out of the crease. Mitchell had 2 wides. During the 8th over George B-S bowled their fourth wicket in the 5th ball of the over and with the 6th ball Sam Trickett quickly picked up the ball, throwing accurately at the stumps causing the 5th wicket by a run out. George Kenning and Owen Hennessey were the 3rd pair in. George was unable to take any wickets and was having a few difficulties with wides. Owen also had several wides but the 6th wicket fell in his over when George J caused the run out. Sam Trickett was bowling during the 7th wicket to fall in the 13th over and having a maiden over. Mitchell W had his third over with only one run off the over, with Harry doing a very solid job in the last to have a maiden over.

Although the outcome was not the one we wanted, it highlighted some good teamwork, and that the team were able to take 7 wickets- 2 more than the opposition. The lads were all very cold by the end of the match but this did not deter them from trying to make catches. Man of the match went to Harry Lawson who batted and bowled solidly. However all the team displayed determination and there are lots of positives to take from the match.

This was a developmental game not only for the players but also the managers who have learnt a lot about umpiring and scoring and who too will continue to practice what is required to improve for the future.
