Dick Fowkes wins National Lifetime Achiever OSCA at Lord's...

18 Oct 2011

Strange noises were heard in St John's Wood on Monday as a prominant member of KTCC rolled into the home of cricket (Meep, meep!!).

Dick Fowkes was at Lord's to be awarded the 2011 Lifetime Achiever OSCA at a ceremony to recognise outstanding volunteer contributions to cricket.

Dick has over 50 years association with Kegworth Town CC and as well as being groundsman, he has also held the positions of Chairman (twice), Secretary (3 times) and Captain.

He is also on the Management Committee and is our League Representative.

Dick won the Leicestershire OSCA back in August after being nominated by no fewer than three seperate people and his trip to Lord's on 17th October saw him pick up the National Award.

Unconfirmed rumours are circulating that he informed the Head Groundsman at Lord's that his wicket mower was set too low and he then adjusted it to allow at least 10mm of grass.

Seriously though, we are sure that everyone involved with the club will agree that this is richly deserved and a fantastic recognition of the work Dick has done over the years to put the club where it is today.

Well done Fowky!!!!
