Week 2 of the 2023 season saw the first match abandonment of the season as the 2nd team game against Huncote was called off early on Saturday morning.
So the only fixture of the day was at home where the 1st team hosted Barrow Town.
Batting first, Kegworth were in trouble early on, losing 2 wickets in the first over to sit 0-2. Some persistent bowling from the Barrow side soon saw Kegworth slip to 22 for 5, before Gareth Isaac came to the crease. Backed up by a patient innings of 23 from Jordan Homes and 17 from Seth Jackson, Isaac hit 82* from just 91 balls to take Kegworth to 185 for 8 from their 50 overs.
In reply, Barrow made batting look easier, and were 102 for 2 when rain started after 22 overs. The downpour put an end to the game, and the D/L revised total of 66 from the 22 overs bowled, meant Barrow won the match as the rain ended any chance of further play.
