March Update & COVID Roadmap...

04 Mar 2021

The latest Government announcement felt like there’s light at the end of the tunnel and I hope that we will be able to play a full cricket season across all age groups.

We will be following the guidance from the ECB and summarised below is how the roadmap will be managed by Kegworth Town Cricket Club.

Our understanding is that on 29th March we can commence playing and training but are currently awaiting guidance from the ECB on the controls to be applied (we expect this to be like last year when outdoor practice started).

A full COVID risk assessment will be carried out and communicated with members prior to the resumption of training. In addition, the control measures will be explained by the various coaches and captains.

We plan to resume training on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 30th March - All Senior Players
  • Thursday 8th April - U11s and U13s
  • Monday 12th April - U15s

All Stars and Dynamos cricket will start on Thursday 20th May.

All the above continues to evolve but is positive news. We will need to continue following guidance, but some normal spring/summer activities look likely to be here in time for the start of the cricket season.

I would like to personally thank Carl Sutton and Ian Dade for their continued efforts in maintaining and improving facilities. The practice facilities will be professionally renovated this month and the wicket is looking fantastic.

Hopefully we will also be allowed to run our CricketForce weekend to allow all members the opportunity to prepare our facilities for the season (date to follow).

I look forward to seeing everyone enjoying playing cricket as soon as feasibly possible.

Take care and stay safe.
