Match report A Brilliant performance from the whole team to get us off to a winning start to the Hardball season. Rothley put out a very young team who did very well against a very strong Kegworth Town team.

Kegworth batted first, and after four overs Josh Faulks and Tom Smith had scored 18 without losing a wicket, with a lovely 4 from Tom. Alex Davies and Will Cockerill added 13 runs inclusing the loss of 1 wicket. Tom Waterfield and Sam Wildgust added a further 16 runs before Timmy Berridge and Mitch Williams crashed 49 off 4 overs, with 47 off the bat including nine fours to leave us on 296 for 1.

When Rothley batted we were soon in control and it was the 7th over before any runs came from the bat. Will Cockerill bowled 2 maidens including a wicket maiden, Alex Davies took two in three balls and missed a hat trick by a coat of varnish! Sam Wildgust and Timmy Berridge chipped in with a wicket each, including a wicket maiden from Sam, and Tom Smith ended the innings with a maiden. Rothley ended on 205 for 5, so we won by 91 runs.

A great team effort, with lots of encouragement in the field, great fielding and backing up, very accurate bowling and breath taking batting. Will Cockerill was awarded Man of the Match for great bowling in his first match for us, but all 8 players deserved it!! Next up, Loughborough Town away.
