Mountsorrel v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 11's Hardball on Fri 27 Jul 2012 at 18:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 58 runs
Match report
After quite a break from cricket due to previous poor weather, the under 11's went to Mountsorrel eager to play. After losing the toss kegworth where put into bat and despite being reminded of the importance of not losing your wicket it would seem the teams match rustiness caused all but 2 (Joe Ellis & Bradley Frost)of our batsmen to get out. Despite losing a total of 11 wickets some good batting from Elliot Turner (13 runs) Henry Jones (7 runs) Bradley Frost (6 runs) Harry Gilby (5 runs)saw kegworth finish on positive figure (202).
Consequently it was clear when fielding kegworth needed to take wickets, restrict the runs and avoid giving away any wides if we were going to stand any chance. The opening bowling partnership of Harry Gilby and Henry Jones did well by taking 3 wickets - Elliot taking a catch from Harry's bowling and Henry bowling out 2 more. Later innings saw 2 more wickets fall from runouts with excellent throws from Kieran Hopewell and Elliot Turner. Elliot also took a 5th wicket by bowling out the mountsorrel batsman in the 9th over.
Unfortunately these efforts were not to be enough, but significant positives from the game were that no bowler gave away more than 2 wides, wickets were taken by bowling, catching and run outs. And the team did remarkably well against a particularly mature under 11 mountsorrel team!
Man of the match went to Elliot Turner for all round good cricket (batting, bowling, catching and fielding. Other people noted for good performance were Bradley for not getting out when batting and scoring 6 runs and for having only 6 runs scored from his bowling.
