Barrow Town v Kegworth Town Cricket Club Under 11's Hardball on Fri 29 Jun 2012 at 18:00
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 23 runs
Match report
Barrow won the toss and elected to bat. Some good bowling from Bradley Frost and an early wicked to Jay Werb restricted what was going to be a significant lead. The following bowlers of Josh Gilman and Tom Ginty also took a wicked when Josh bowled their number 3 but some good batting from their number 4 saw the barrow score reach 258 after 8 overs! At this stage Barrow looked likely to build an Insurmountable lead but the next bowling partnership not only restricted the runs but also took 4 wickets. Carter topped the list by bowling 3 out but Theo's stats of 7 runs from 2 overs with 1 wicket is a tremendous performance and Barrows total started to fall. The last 4 overs saw another 3 wickets fall courtesy of Laurie Fields who bowled 2 and caught the 3rd off his own delivery (well done Laurie). Bhis saw barrow finishing their inning on 259, only gaining 1 runs from the last 8 overs.
Kegworths batting in return saw some good hitting from Josh Gilman (11), Theo Walter (5), Carter Walker (8) but all these lost wickets. The only 2 that didnt where Tom Ginty (5) and Bradley Frost (5) well done you pair.
Today we couldnt reach Barrows score but in the future I am confident the under 11's will build bigger and bigger innings.
Special mention must go to Kieran Hopewell whose first attempt at wicketkeeping was outstanding. Bravely preventing balls getting past him, always looking for a stumping and taking 1 catch.
But Man of the match goes to Carter Walker for some very impressive bowling and for some equally good batting when trying hard to push for a victory.
