Kegworth Town Cricket Club Lost by 31 runs

Match report Kegworth's first home game of the season saw them play host to Austrey. Austrey batted first and with Tom Henson and Will Cockerill both bowling maiden overs it was not until the third over that they made their first run. The run rate slowly totted up until the 8th over when a few wides and 6 runs from Joe Hampson saw the run rate climb. Myles Faulks bowled 2 overs for 5 runs and Josh Faulks bowled 3 for 15, with a maiden. Tejas Chandrasekar had a good first over with only one run off him then had a couple of no balls in his second. Dan Lewis Roberts bowled 2 overs for 12 runs with George Bakewell-Smith also having 2 overs the first saw only 6 runs scored but the second saw the batsman get a 6 and 2 4's. Tom Henson bowled the only wicket in the 19th over, to see the innings finish on 123 for 1.

Arjan Chandrasekar and George Lacey opened the batting for Kegworth with George Lacey being bowled on his first ball.George Jones did not fair much better, also being bowled for a golden duck by the same bowler. Arjan managed 4 runs before being run out. Joe Hampson showed a big improvement in batting, managing 14 runs, including 3 4's before being bowled. Josh Faulks then batted 25 before retiring only to see him return for the last 1.5 overs and to finish on 38. Tom Henson made a run before being caught.Will Cockerill also made a single before being caught, swiftly followed by Tejas Chandrasekar bowled for a golden duck. George Bakewell-Smith faced 4 balls but was run out before managing to score a run. The last batsman; Dan Lewis-Roberts hit a 4 on his second ball but was then caught next ball. With brothers Myles and Josh Faulks finishing the innings; Kegworth finished on 92. their highest score so far this season.

Despite another loss, there were many positives to take from the game. The bowling was generally strong and the fielders moved better in their attempts to stop the boundaries being reached. George Jones kept wicket well with only 3 byes for the inning. Despite the scoreline the batsman were pushing runs. Man of the match was awarded to Josh Faulks for his all round performance.
