Kegworth Town Cricket Club Experimental (Under 12's) v Loughborough Town on Sun 03 May 2009 at 10.00am
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won By 18 runs

Match report A real team performance with everyone chipping in. We batted sensibly, put the bad balls away and ran a lot of good 1's and 2's. We then bowled and fielded superbly, taking some brilliant catches. At the end of the game it was wickets that won it for us, we only lost 3 but we took 8.

Kegworth Town won the toss and batted first. Mitch Williams and Timmy Berridge got us off to a great start scoring 26 for 1 off their 4 overs with another 5 boundaries. Mitch scored 17 and lost his wicket once. George Marrable and Sam O'Neill then took the score on to 254, adding 28 runs in 4 overs, with Sam top scoring on 17 not out. Alex Davies and Owen Barker then faced some very hostile bowling but still managed to take the score on to 258 for 2. Our last pair, TOm Waterfield and Tyler Day then added 15 for 1 wicket in the last four overs, taking us to a very respectable 273 for 3 against some very good, fast bowling.

We got off to a great start with Sam O'Neill and Alex Davies bowling very accurately to put the visitors under immediate pressure. Alex was the pick of the bowlers following on from his excellent performance on friday night with figures of 3 overs, 4 wickets for 4 runs. Timmy and Mitch then bowled very economically and Timmy took 3 wickets for 15 runs in his 3 overs including a caught and bowled. Tyler and George then had to bowl to Loughborough's big hitting middle order and managed to keep them down to 22 runs and Tyler took his first wicket for Kegworth. Owen, Timmy and Alex then finished off the innings with some good death bowling to restrict Loughborough to 255 with a wicket for Alex off the last ball of the innings.

Special mention to Sam O'Neill for his leadership in the field, and to Tyler, Sam and Timmy for taking some great catches. Tom Waterfield should also take a lot of credit for his keeping, with very little getting past him. In the end our bowling, fielding and catching made the difference.

A great team effort with lots of spirit, beating a very strong Loughborough Team by being disciplined and playing great cricket.

Man of the Match could have been awarded to any of the team, but Timmy berridge was awarded the trophy for his great all round performance.
