Match report Kegworth entertained top Sheffield side Hallam for their annual fixture. Hallam batting first started with a flurry of boundaries, but excellent bowling by Chris Trevis (2 for 34), debutant Michael Reed (3 for 20) and Doug Savige (3 for 11) saw Hallam collapse to 69 for 6 on a fast wicket that offered pace and bounce. However, an excellent 59 by Tasker showed their depth in batting as the visitors were finally bowled out for 154 in the 41st over.

When Kegworth batted Paul Widdowson (10) and Mark Ashcroft (8) batted steadily before both were removed by Hallam’s South African express bowler Fawkes (3 for 31). Debutant Dominic Reed (22) stopped the slide before the unlikely pairing of Savige and Lee Weedon transformed the game, Savige was as impressive with the bat as with the ball constructing a fine 44 before falling to a fine running catch on the boundary with victory in sight. Weedon played his finest innings for the club and recorded his highest career score of 28 to answer the critics before Simon Glover (14 not out) and Michael Reed (4 not out) scrambled Kegworth to victory in the last over to record a two wicket win.
