Ticknall v Kegworth Town Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 11 Apr 2009 at 1pm
Kegworth Town Cricket Club Won by 2 Wickets

Match report Visiting Derbyshire County League Division One side Ticknall for the first time in 20 years, after many absorbing games in the Castle Donington Evening League, Kegworth found an impressive new pavilion along with a ground in first class order.

Batting first Ticknall made a slow start mainly due to a fine opening spell of bowling by Josh Hodge before a partnership by Thomstone (46) and Bridgeman (41) added 71 runs. The introduction of Mark Ashcroft’s off spin (4 for 24), Neil Shipway’s slow cutters (2 for 41) and Ian Dade’s darts (2 for 18) changed the complexion of the game with Ticknall being bowled out for 147 in 35th over.

When Kegworth batted veteran Chris Johnson (10) fell early, but man of the match Mark Ashcroft (48) piled on the runs before a middle order collapse saw Ticknall seize the initiative. Hodge batted patiently as wickets fell around him compiling an excellent 39 not out and an unbeaten ninth wicket partnership of 20 with Carl Sutton (11 not out) steered Kegworth home by two wickets in the last over.
